After warming up the palate, we got stuck into the four main dishes—Gnocchi Pesto, Mushroom Rigatoni, Roast Tomato Risotto, and the Squashed Cauliflower Cherry Salad. All sorbets and gelatos are locally sourced and the flavours change regularly. As if that wasn’t seductive enough a scoop of salted caramel ice cream adding another layer of decadence.
The food is nice, I wouldn’t say amazing or I wouldn’t rush back.
What’s most impressive about Jamie’s style is that despite his long-running history in the kitchen, he’s continually inspiring keen gastronomists by utilising ingredients in ways that most of us would deem scandalous. The Classic Super Food Salad is a very impressive, multi-dimensional salad based around mixed grains and pulses, including lentils, chickpeas and quinoa. They’re the kind of flavours you simply can’t look past on an Italian menu. I had not experience flavours as good as this since I was in Italy.. From the dirty dishes left on all five tables around us to the staff asking us once for a drink in almost two hours. There’s something about the gourmet balance of fluffy potato dumplings with leafy pesto that really speaks to the soul. We have been to Adelaide many times, but never to Jamies Italian so decided to give it a go. But now I am blown away by Gennaro’s Tagliatelle Bolognese; which is profoundly different from any Bolognese I have had before.

A close second had to be the creamy Roast Tomato Risotto, which was so full of rich tomato flavour and buttery cheesiness that one spoon just wasn’t enough (nor was five).
